Hverfjall (Crater Hike)

Day 6 – September 4, 2016

Doug and I’s last adventure for the day. We took Turq on to a VERY bumpy (the bumpiest) road toward Hverfjall. It was extremely narrow, and shrubs or rocks lined the road. If we encountered another car it was a grueling event to get passed one another. At the base of the crater there is a pedestrian path, which looks like no big deal. The path is steep but only takes about 10 minutes to get to the top. At the top , you have views of the Mývatn area and the crater itself, which is massive. Pictures really don’t do it justice. It was super windy up there! There is a path that you can take around the rim of the crater for more views, but we were tired and decided to head to our hotel for dinner and drinks.
