Hraunfossar & Barnafoss

Day 9 – September 7, 2016

On our way back to Southern Iceland, we detoured to Hraunfossar & Barnafoss – waterfalls located along the same trail. We were not disappointed! There is a gravel parking lot, which was packed when we arrived. Doug couldn’t resist but draw a phallic symbol on Turq’s dusty window before we hit the trails.img_7062

Its a short walk to Hraunfossar which was so unique. It was a compilation of a bunch of small waterfalls discharging into a strong, bright blue river.

We continued on the path across a bridge to get a look at Barnafoss, which was further up the river. The river here was way stronger and the current was fast. The signs provided a brief history of the waterfall (go read it!).

We returned to Turq to find that someone had reciprocated Doug’s drawing (his is on the right)! This made our day.

Hungry, again, we went to Brúarás Geocenter for food for burger and fries.
